Hello,
My name is Marcello Fernandes and I graduated as an architect from New Jersey Institute of Technology, (NJIT) in New Jersey, United States.
I would like to talk about the Shipping Container homes. The Shipping Container Homes idea is pretty new in South America and other parts of the world but they are very popular in the USA and Europe.

Reasons why The Shipping Container Homes are so popular:

1) They are fast, practical and cheap to built!

The shipping containers come in a variety of sizes: 20', 30' and 40' long X 8' width X 8' 1/2 high. In average, a medium-sized modern shipping container home takes at least 3 months to be built to completion ( much faster than a conventional home, for instance).
In average, 40% of the overall cost of the homes goes into the structural elements themselves.  Depending upon the size of the structure, a shipping container home is on average 40% cheaper than a concrete or wood home of the same size.

2)They are more environmentally friendly!

Because they do not use bricks, woods, sand or any other materials that may be harmful to nature, they are considered "green". They usually use left over materials that are being recycled (for instance, shipping containers)
The shipping container homes are considered a much "cleaner construction" because, unlike the other conventional home constructions,  they do not leave any residues (bulky trash) after all.
The shipping container home can be assembled with multiple containers, depending upon the space required.
